Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley
Mary Shelley was an English novelist born on August 30, 1797, in London. She is best known for her groundbreaking work, "Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus," published in 1818.
The novel, which explores themes of creation, responsibility, and the consequences of ambition, was inspired by her own experiences and the intellectual climate of her time. Mary was the daughter of renowned thinkers William Godwin and Mary Wollstonecraft, which influenced her literary pursuits.
Throughout her life, she faced personal tragedies, including the loss of her husband, the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, and several of her children. Despite these challenges, she continued to write and advocate for women's rights, leaving a lasting legacy in literature.
